In every city, there’s always room for improvement, and Bucharest is no exception. Naturally, everyone has their own vision of an ideal Bucharest, bringing creative ideas and solutions to address the challenges they face in daily life. However, very few of these ideas are actually presented to the responsible institutions.
UPtown Ecothon was the first Hackathon organised by high school students—a collaborative event where multiple participants work together to develop a project, usually software-based. Its goal was to explore solutions for addressing existing problems and improving Bucharest’s infrastructure. The means we aimed to use for this project included technologies like artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, and more. The topics we tackled focused on city planning and environmental awareness.
The event was open to high school students, university students, and professionals from organisations (targeting people with the age between 16–26).
Through this event, we wanted to make a meaningful impact on the community by implementing a set of principles and values.
